The print pairs the Thirteen Buddhas of the Japanese mortuary rite with Kukai, founder of Shingon Buddhism, shown under his posthumous title Kobo Daishi, a standard devotional print type of the period. Held today by the Cleveland Museum of Art under accession 1988.119, Japanese Art department, gift of Donald J. Wineman in memory of his wife, Susan.
