This is the Holy See Press Office's own bulletin recording the Holy Mass and Canonization of the Blesseds Francisco and Jacinta Marto at Fatima on 13 May 2017, celebrated by Pope Francis on the centenary of the reported Marian apparitions. As the canonising authority's own record of its formal act, it is the correct and authoritative source for the fact, date and form of the canonization itself. Its limit is that it documents the act of canonization, not an independent scholarly or devotional history of the Fatima apparitions or the children's lives, so a claim about the contested historical circumstances of the 1917 apparitions themselves, a subject with its own separate literature both devotional and critical, needs a source examining that history directly rather than this record of the church's later canonising act.
