The French Ministry of Culture's own archaeological record for the excavation of Ugarit (Ras Shamra, Syria), covering tablet RS 15.30 and its joining fragments, held in the National Museum of Damascus. The portal's own page on the tablet states that its first lines give the words, in the Hurrian language, of a hymn to the goddess Nikkal, described as the Hurrian and Ugaritic transcription of the Sumerian lunar goddess whose name means "the great lady." The portal dates the royal palace archive in which the tablet was found to the site's occupation from the fourteenth to the early twelfth century BCE, and describes the tablet as the only one of Ugarit's musical texts well enough preserved for near-complete modern reconstruction.
