Kant: A Biography

Kant: A Biography, Manfred Kuehn's 2001 study from Cambridge University Press, was the first full length Kant biography in more than fifty years at its publication, treating Kant's 1781 Critique of Pure Reason and his own comparison of his "Copernican Turn" to Copernicus's decentering of the earth in full intellectual-historical context. Its strength is that rare full length, up to date scholarly treatment. Its limit is that, like any philosophical biography, its interpretive choices about Kant's intellectual development are one scholar's synthesis; readers wanting Kant's philosophy in his own words should read the Critique and his other works directly.
