Pew Research Center's June 9, 2025 report on how the global religious landscape changed from 2010 to 2020, finding the number of Hindus worldwide grew 12 percent in that decade, from a little under 1.1 billion in 2010 to nearly 1.2 billion in 2020, with 99 percent of the global Hindu population in the Asia-Pacific region and about 95 percent of all Hindus living in India.

Reliability Tier1
The same 2025 modeling exercise cited for Buddhists above, applied to Hindus; unlike the Buddhist figure, this report's 2010 Hindu total (a little under 1.1 billion) sits close to the original 2012 report's figure (about 1 billion) for the same year, so the two Hindu sources are a mild revision rather than the sharp divergence seen for Buddhists, and the report states non-Hindus grew at about the same rate so Hindus' global population share stayed stable across the decade.
