The "Nestorian" Church: A Lamentable Misnomer, Sebastian Brock's 1996 article in the Bulletin of the John Rylands Library, argues against the term "Nestorian" for the Church of the East, made by one of the foremost specialists in Syriac Christianity. Its strength is that specialist authority behind a now widely accepted historiographical argument. Its limit is that the article makes a specific terminological and historical argument; it is not a general history of the Church of the East, which should be sought separately for its own broader story.
