Origin from 2022

Between 1 and 4 July 2022, the Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of North America and its member the Zoroastrian Association of Greater New York hosted the twelfth World Zoroastrian Congress at the New York Hilton Midtown, the faith's first congress held in the United States since 2000. Roughly twelve hundred delegates from sixteen countries gathered under the theme Bridging the Global Zarathushti Existence, with retired Indian Supreme Court Justice Rohinton F. Nariman delivering the keynote address and FEZANA president Arzan Sam Wadia serving as congress co chair. Sessions addressed the community's own demographics: worldwide Zoroastrian numbers are estimated at roughly one hundred twenty five thousand, with North America, now home to more than thirty thousand adherents across the United States and Canada, an increasingly significant center of the global diaspora alongside the historically larger populations of India and Iran.

How Zoroastrians Convened the 12th World Zoroastrian Congress in New York City

This article records tradition as it has been passed down and reported. Its sources are not yet part of the atlas's verified catalogue.

Between 1 and 4 July 2022, the Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of North America, FEZANA, and its member the Zoroastrian Association of Greater New York hosted the twelfth World Zoroastrian Congress at the New York Hilton Midtown. It was the faith's first congress held in the United States since 2000.

Roughly twelve hundred delegates from sixteen countries gathered under the theme Bridging the Global Zarathushti Existence. Retired Indian Supreme Court Justice Rohinton F. Nariman delivered the keynote address, and FEZANA president Arzan Sam Wadia served as the congress's co chair.

Sessions at the congress addressed the community's own demographics. Worldwide Zoroastrian numbers are estimated at roughly one hundred twenty five thousand. North America, now home to more than thirty thousand adherents across the United States and Canada, was described as an increasingly significant center of the global diaspora, alongside the historically larger populations of India and Iran.

What the four days in New York changed for the Zoroastrian community's international gathering pattern was returning the World Zoroastrian Congress to the United States after a gap of more than two decades, held this time in a city whose own Zoroastrian association was large enough to co host it, and using the occasion to set the North American diaspora's growing numbers beside the tradition's older centers in India and Iran rather than apart from them.
