The Juxtaposition Cross of Commitment is named for Gate 29 and Gate 30. Human Design reads Gate 29, from Hexagram 29, The Abysmal, sitting in the Sacral centre, as a yes that, once given, perseveres to the end whatever the cost; and Gate 30, from Hexagram 30, The Clinging, sitting in the Solar Plexus, as the longing and intensity of feeling that pulls a person into experience. Juxtaposition Crosses are set apart from the Right Angle and Left Angle families, reserved for the four line one profile, and read as fixed almost past the point of alternative.
Its design half is Gate 20 and Gate 34, which are in fact two of the four Integration gates, directly connected to one another. Gate 20 sits in the Throat and is read as awareness and expression that occur now rather than in reflection. Gate 34 sits in the Sacral centre and is read as pure power, most potent simply being itself rather than aimed at anyone.
So a chart carrying this cross commits and longs on its surface, while beneath it an immediate awareness runs directly into raw power, the two design gates forming a live connection rather than two separate pressures. The same four gates recur, held instead in the Left Angle family, as the Cross of Industry, and reversed as the Juxtaposition Cross of Fates. Both hexagrams are old texts; pairing them this way as a life direction dates from the system's founding in 1987.
