The Juxtaposition Cross of Grace is named here for Gate 22 and Gate 47, a mood dependent grace exposed ahead of a mind working toward sense. Its first article reads Gate 22 as a social grace that flows or withdraws with the emotional wave, now the more exposed gate, and Gate 47 as a mind working over confusion, sometimes for a long time, until sense finally arrives of itself. What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this cross draws one gate from each of the four.
Gate 22, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind. Gate 47, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding. Behind them, Gate 11 falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation, and Gate 12 falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form.
So the moody grace and the working realization the first article reads on this cross's surface answer to the arcs of mind and bonding, while the untold ideas and the cautious expression beneath them answer to the arcs of transformation and form, the same two design gates the Juxtaposition Cross of Ideas carries as its own personality half, and its own reversal, the Juxtaposition Cross of Oppression, also draws on the same four arcs however its two pairs are assigned to personality and design. Four gates, four different Quarters, no pair sharing an arc: this cross draws its whole reading from every corner of the wheel's own purpose rather than concentrated in one.
