The Sleeping Phoenix, Power Read From Its Other End

The Right Angle Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix carries the same channel as the cross above with sun and earth exchanged, Gate 34 and Gate 20, still directly connected in the channel of Charisma, now with power the more exposed half. Human Design reads Gate 34, from Hexagram 34, Great Power, sitting in the Sacral centre, as pure power, most potent simply being itself rather than aimed at anyone; and Gate 20, from Hexagram 20, Contemplation, sitting in the Throat, as awareness that occurs now rather than in reflection. It sits in the Right Angle family, the most populous of the three, and Human Design reads that family as steered chiefly by personal choice.

Its design half is Gate 59 and Gate 55, also exchanged. Gate 59 sits in the Sacral centre and is read as the energy that breaks down barriers between people; it pairs with Gate 6 in the channel of Mating. Gate 55 sits in the Solar Plexus and is read as an emotional weather swinging between melancholy and abundance; it pairs with Gate 39 in the channel of Emoting.

Putting raw power ahead of present awareness changes what this cross puts forward first, while the same barrier dissolving urge and unnamed mood sit beneath it regardless of order. The same channel, unreversed, is also another Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix, with two further role arrangements of the same channel. Both hexagrams are old texts; pairing them this way as a life direction dates from the system's founding in 1987.
