Juxtaposition Cross of Values (50/3)

The Juxtaposition Cross of Values is named for Gate 50 and Gate 3, the same pair as the Cross of Mutation with sun and earth exchanged. Human Design reads Gate 50, from Hexagram 50, The Cauldron, as the instinctive sense of responsibility that guards a group and decides its rules, now the more exposed gate, and Gate 3, from Hexagram 3, Difficulty at the Beginning, as the pressure to bring order out of a genuinely new start. Juxtaposition Crosses stand apart from the other two families, tied only to the four line one profile, and are read as the most fixed direction the system names.

Its design half is Gate 31 and Gate 41. Gate 31 sits in the Throat and is read as leadership through influence, followed because it is recognised rather than imposed; elsewhere it pairs with Gate 7 in the channel of the Alpha. Gate 41 sits in the Root and is read as the pressure of feeling that opens a new cycle of experience, and Human Design treats it as the structural start of the whole sixty four gate sequence.

Putting guarded values ahead of the pressure to order a new beginning changes what this cross puts forward first, while the same elected voice and opening cycle sit beneath it regardless. The hexagrams are ancient; grouping them into one incarnation cross is the modern system's own construction.

So the guarded rule and the ordered beginning the first article reads on this cross's surface answer to the arcs of bonding and mind, while the elected leadership and the anticipated cycle beneath them answer to the arcs of form and transformation. The same pair, exchanged, is this cross's own reversal, the Juxtaposition Cross of Mutation, and, held instead in the Left Angle family, the Cross of Wishes, both orderings; the Right Angle family carries the identical pair too, as the Cross of Laws, both orderings. Four gates, four different Quarters, no pair sharing an arc: this cross draws its whole reading from every corner of the wheel's own purpose rather than concentrated in one.
