Left Angle Cross of Wishes (3/50)

The Left Angle Cross of Wishes carries the same named pair as the Juxtaposition Cross of Mutation, Gate 3 and Gate 50, read here inside the Left Angle family instead. Human Design reads Gate 3, from Hexagram 3, Difficulty at the Beginning, as the pressure to bring order out of a genuinely new start, and Gate 50, from Hexagram 50, The Cauldron, as the instinctive sense of responsibility that guards a group and decides its rules. It sits in the Left Angle family, and Human Design reads that group as outward facing, less a chosen plan than a role other people keep handing back, which is where the cross's wishes are read as belonging to something beyond the individual.

Its design half is Gate 41 and Gate 31. Gate 41 sits in the Root and is read as the pressure of feeling that opens a new cycle of experience, structurally the start of the whole sixty four gate sequence. Gate 31 sits in the Throat and is read as leadership through influence, followed because it is recognised rather than imposed; it pairs with Gate 7 in the channel of the Alpha.

Where the Juxtaposition reading of these same gates holds the pattern as fixed, the Left Angle reading holds it as a role answering to something beyond personal choice. The hexagrams are ancient; the pairing and the angle both belong to the system founded in 1987.

Its first article reads Gate 3 as the pressure to bring order out of a genuinely new beginning, now the more exposed gate, and Gate 50 as the instinctive sense of responsibility that guards a group and decides its rules. What it does not trace is where the four gates sit on the wheel itself, the Human Design mandala's division of its sixty four gates into four Quarters, and by that measure this ordering draws one gate from each of the four.

Gate 3, the personality gate here, falls in the Quarter of Initiation, purpose fulfilled through mind. Gate 50, its personality partner, falls in the Quarter of Duality, purpose fulfilled through bonding. Behind them, Gate 41 falls in the Quarter of Mutation, purpose fulfilled through transformation, and Gate 31 falls in the Quarter of Civilization, purpose fulfilled through form.

So the pressure to begin and the guarded responsibility the first article reads on this ordering's surface answer to the arcs of mind and bonding, while an opening cycle of feeling and an elected voice beneath them answer to the arcs of transformation and form, the same four arcs the earlier ordering of Wishes also draws on however its two pairs are assigned to personality and design. With both arrangements in place, Wishes's two gate pairs share the same wheel wide spread, one gate from each Quarter regardless of order.
