Right Angle Cross of Consciousness (63/64)

The Right Angle Cross of Consciousness is named for Gate 63 and Gate 64, both seated in the Head. Human Design reads Gate 63, from Hexagram 63, After Completion, as the pressure to question and look for the flaw before accepting a pattern, and Gate 64, from Hexagram 64, Before Completion, as unresolved impressions working slowly toward a clarity that arrives on its own schedule. It sits in the Right Angle family, the most populous of the three, and Human Design reads that family as steered chiefly by personal choice.

Its design half is Gate 5 and Gate 35. Gate 5 sits in the Sacral centre and is read as a fixed inner timing that governs eating, sleeping and working; elsewhere it pairs with Gate 15 in the channel of Rhythm. Gate 35 sits in the Throat and is read as a hunger for progress and for the feeling only a new experience supplies; it pairs with Gate 36 in the channel of Transitoriness.

So a chart carrying this cross holds doubt beside unresolved confusion on its exposed Head surface, while beneath it a fixed bodily rhythm answers to a restless hunger for progress, a settled design beneath an unsettled name. Both hexagrams are old texts; pairing them this way as a life direction dates from the system's founding in 1987.

Four gates, four different Quarters, no pair sharing an arc: the consciousness this cross is named for is drawn from every corner of the wheel's own purpose rather than settled in one.
