Sri Sarada Math is a Hindu nunnery and independent monastic institution for women, founded on December 2, 1954, and named after Sri Sarada Devi, the consort of Sri Ramakrishna. It operates as an independent counterpart to the Ramakrishna Order and is described as the first monastic institution for Hindu women fully governed by women without interference from men, pursuing Swami Vivekananda's mission of service to humanity, expressed in the phrase Shiva Jnane Jiva Seva, while propagating Hindu Vedantic philosophy and the four yogic paths and carrying out educational and philanthropic work across India and internationally.
