An etching and engraving titled "Balaam and the Angel," made by Dirck Volckertsz Coornhert after a composition by Maarten van Heemskerck and published by Hieronymus Cock in 1554. It illustrates Numbers 22, the episode of the diviner Balaam whose donkey saw the angel of the Lord blocking the road before Balaam himself did. Held today by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Drawings and Prints department, under accession 2023.382, Purchase, Marjorie Phelps Starr Bequest, 2023.
