A modified lithograph titled simply "Enoch," by William Blake, 1806 to 1807, printed in relief from a stone, Blake's only lithograph. The print shows the patriarch surrounded by figures engaged in writing and the sciences, consistent with the tradition, carried in the Book of Enoch and later Jewish mysticism, that Enoch was the first to write and the first to be taken up to heaven without dying. Held today by the Metropolitan Museum of Art under accession 2013.146.

Enoch, Figures

The Met's own title for this print is the subject's name alone, and its own description ties the imagery to Enoch's legendary role as the first to write, a direct identification rather than a bare thematic tag.
