A South Netherlandish tapestry, ca. 1435 to 1450, one panel of a set titled "Seven Scenes from the Story of the Seven Sacraments," this scene captioned "Jacob Blessing Ephraim and Manasseh." Jacob, on his deathbed, crosses his hands to bless the younger son first, and the tapestry's own caption names both grandsons outright. Held today by the Metropolitan Museum of Art under accession 07.57.4, a gift of J. Pierpont Morgan in 1907.
