The Augsburg Confession is Philipp Melanchthon's own primary text, the founding Lutheran confession presented to the Holy Roman Empire's Diet of Augsburg in 1530. As a primary confessional document it is authoritative for what the historical Confession itself states, the doctrinal position Lutheran reformers put forward at that specific moment, not for how any particular modern Lutheran body currently interprets or applies it, which is a separate and denomination-specific question needing its own source. Use it to establish the historical Confession's own wording and doctrinal claims as presented in 1530.
