The Bundahishn is the Zoroastrian book of creation, a Middle Persian text setting out the tradition's own cosmology and cosmogony, and this Oxford University Press volume is Domenico Agostini and Samuel Thrope's annotated scholarly translation. As a primary text in careful modern translation it is the correct source for what Zoroastrian cosmology itself states, with the translators' scholarly annotation flagging where the underlying Middle Persian is difficult or uncertain. Its limit is that the Bundahishn as it survives was compiled and redacted well after the earliest Zoroastrian period, so a claim about the oldest layers of Zoroastrian belief, as against this later systematized account of it, needs a source that addresses that earlier stratum specifically.
